John Marshall

John Marshal Gamble (1863 - 1957)

Oil on canvas, landscape with poppies

It's estimated to sell between $100,000 and $150,000

Clars Auction Gallery has been in the auction business since 1948. For the last four years, Clars has been the local sponsor of KQED's The Antiques Roadshow.

Clars is the largest full-service auction house in Northern California and perhaps in the Western United States. This November 1st preview will showcase over 5000 items which will be auctioned on Saturday November 3rd. Auction items are consigned by 250 to 300 consignors, located primarily in the Bay Area, but also including property sent here from other countries and states.

The gallery handles a wide variety of property. Fine art, paintings and prints, is probably the largest category offered at Clars, followed by furniture, jewelry, rugs, procelains, silver, books, vehicles, and collectibles. The November 3rd and 4th auction should be one of the best auctions of the year. Highlights will be a collection of American and European paintings, French furniture, Native American baskets, exceptional jewelry, Asian decorative objects, and an ethnographic collection. One of the top lots is a painting by John Marshall Gamble showing a landscape with poppies. It's estimated to sell between $100,000 and $150,000
